Today marks the official release of Metallic Spheres the collaboration between Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour and ambient/house collective The Orb. The disc is intended to be heard in two parts with a “Metallic Side” and a “Spheres Side,” each of which contains five movements. Tonight the Orb will perform in Los Angeles at an event to celebrate Metallic Spheres. An original laser show production will be part of the festivities in which the group will perform the album in full. David Gilmour will not appear at the show, which will take place at the Masonic Lodge at 2244 Westwood Boulevard.
