Rusted Root will headline Chicago’s longest-running New Year’s Eve concert, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Ball. The 14th annual event will take place at InterContinental in Rosemont on the evening of December 31. Michael McDermott will open the night. The Rock ‘N’ Roll Ball will feature several different themed rooms. In addition to Rusted Root and McDermott’s sets in the Rock Room, the Party Room will feature the Hip-Hop party band Too White Crew and ’80s cover band The Breakfast Club. Meanwhile, DJ Roland will host the Club Room.

Rusted Root recently closed a tour with opening act Assembly of Dust. During the run, Rusted Root singer Liz Berlin sat in with AOD on “Straight” at both Ridgefield, CT’s Ridgefield Playhouse and New York’s Best Buy Theater, while Rusted Root guitarist Colder Harper emerged during AOD’s set for “Second Song.” AOD will close the year with performances at New York’s Bowery Ballroom (12/28), Philadelphia’s World Café Live (12/29) and Keene, NH’s The Colonial Theatre (12/31). The band’s core members will be joined by fiddler/keyboardist Jason Crosby and drummer Tom Arey throughout the three-show run.
