7 Walkers wrapped up the current leg of their December tour last night in New York City. This morning, Bill Kreutzmann, Papa Mali, George Porter Jr. and Matt Hubbard made their way over to the Relix offices for a bonus set. There the group performed “Death Don’t Have No Mercy,” “Sugaree” and “New Orleans Crawl” in the Relix boiler room. The performance will post to Relix.com in the coming days, joining recent video from Lo Faber and Aaron Maxwell, Hill Country Revue, Ryan Montbleau, Bill Frisell and The Posies.

As for 7 Walkers bassist (and Meters co-founder) George Porter Jr., he has a new recording that will be available for download any day now. As explains, “ When my mother got sick a few months ago I thought I was going to lose her, and she has been asking me every year why don’t I do a Christmas recording, everyone else is doing it. So I did five new songs and 1 other: ‘O’ Holy Night.’” We’ll keep you updated but these six songs should be up on iTunes in time for the holiday.
