TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek will join Jane’s Addiction in the studio this winter. The group’s core members—singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins—are working on the project with producer Rich Costey. In addition to playing bass, Sitek will help write some of the album’s new songs.

“This process has been both inspiring and incredibly freeing,” Navarro said in a statement . “The events over the last year have proven themselves to be a necessary part of the journey as they have led us to our current creative team and direction.”

Founding Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery toured with the reunited group from 2008-2010. After Avery left the band, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan played bass with Jane’s Addiction for six months.
