Jack Bruce, John Medeski, Vernon Reid and Cindy Blackman to Perform as Tony Williams Lifetime Tribute Band

An impressive quartet will come together next week to pay tribute to a jazz legend. The Tony Williams Lifetime Tribute Band will draw together Jack Bruce (the Cream bassist who appeared on Lifetime’s second album), along with John Medeski, Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid and drummer Cindy Blackman (Pharaoh Sanders, Lenny Kravitz). Lifetime originated as a trio in 1969 with Miles Davis alum Williams behind the drum kit, joined by fellow Davis collaborator John McLaughlin on guitar and Larry Young on organ. The Tony Williams Lifetime Tribute Band will appear at New York City’s Blue Note on January 27-30, with sets at 8 and 10:30 PM.

The greatest jazz-rock band of all time, that started it all off. Cindy is amazing, Jack was there when he joined them after Cream split in 1970. Vernon Reid for JM is… sticking point, but how I wish I was in NY to see this band. Please come to the UK with this band Jack !!!
