Bob Weir on acoustic at his home studio

Yesterday Bob Weir performed a rare solo acoustic set at the Sundance Film Festival. Weir appeared at the ASCAP café in Park City, UT in conjunction with the opening of the film The Music Never Stopped (which is an adaptation of Oliver Sacks’ essay which describes his work with a Deadhead suffering from a brain ailment). Weir began, quite fitting with “Music Never Stopped” and then offered versions of “Me & My Uncle,” “Desolation Row,” “KC Moan,” “Victim or the Crime,” “Easy To Slip” and “Loose Lucy.” At this point Mickey Hart stepped out to join his longtime Grateful Dead band mate on hand drums (as despite the fact that Hart is not part of Weir’s Furthur project, their close ties certainly remain). Hart appeared on “Corinna” and a run from “Truckin” into “Other One” and then “Sugar Magnolia,” which closed out the set. The two also joined forces on the “Not Fade Away” encore.
