Galactic celebrated Mardi Gras a few days early with a sold out show at New York’s Terminal 5. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave. and High and Mighty Brass Band opened the night while Cyril Neville and Rebirth Brass Band’s Corey Henry performed as part of Galactic. Trombone Shorty emerged a few songs into Galactic’s set for a take on “Blackbird Special” and the members of High and Mighty Brass Band sat in near the end of the night for “Ooh Nah Nay.” In addition, Living Colour’s Corey Glover—who lives in New York—sang on “Total Destruction to Your Mind,” “Love Rears Its Ugly Head” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Crosstown Traffic.” The latter song was voted on by fans as part of the band’s Throwdown Request Live campaign.

After the show, the party moved downtown to New York’s Sullivan Hall where Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk played a late night set. BCorey Henry and Lettuce keyboardist Nigel Hall both sat in during the performance. Galactic will perform next at New Orleans’ Tipitina’s on March 5.
