Preservation Hall Jazz Band performed at Austin’s Moody Theater this past Thursday. The show was tied to SXSW and also featured The New Mastersounds, Bob Geldof and headliner Widespread Panic. During Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s set, the Del McCoury Band emerged to play on “One More ‘Fore I Die,” “One Has My Name (The Other Has My Heart),” “A Good Gal is Hard to Find” and “I’ll Fly Away.” The members of Del McCoury Band and Preservation Hall Jazz band recently completed the new collaborative album American Legacies, which is scheduled for release on April 12. My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James also joined the legendary bands during “One More ‘Fore I Die,” as well as Preservation Hall on “Louisiana Fairytale” and “St. James Infirmary.”

Earlier that afternoon James also collaborated with the members of Preservation Hall. The MMJ singer paraded through the street with the members of the group and into Austin’s Paramount Theatre where the musicians continued to perform before the premiere of Danny Clinch’s new film Live at Preservation Hall: A Louisiana Fairytale. The film follows My Morning Jacket’s recent collaborations with Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
