Percy Hill’s Aaron Katz formed The Dejas after meeting Callie Lipton at the University of New Hampshire in 2005. The group’s sound has evolved over the years, and on April 8 The Dejas will showcase its new five piece band at Salem, MA’s Gulu-Gulu Cafe. In addition to Katz and Lipton, the new lineup includes Cilla Bonnie (bass), Dennis Monagle (drums), and Chris Sink (keyboards). The five musicians’ new sound offers a mix of “trance, ambient, reggae, disco, dance grooves” that Katz promises will recall Color in Bloom/Afterall-era Percy Hill. Anastasia Rene—who sang on Percy Hill’s 2003 live album—will also sat in with The Dejas on April 8.
