Americana roots-rockers Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen were an important band in the Grateful Dead family in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. After the Cody band broke up in 1976, front man Billy C. Farlow stayed in California and formed his own Western Swing/Rockabilly band with pianist Billy Philadelphia and guitarist Tommy Thompson. Billy C. relocated to the South in the mid ‘80s and started a fruitful collaboration with Nashville-based producer/guitarist Fred James.

Farlow and James recently reunited to work on a new CD, You Better Run. Accoring to Farlow, “We talked strategy and agreed that a raw, balls-to-the-wall approach with as little overdubbing as possible would be the way to go. Heavy on the rhythm, screamin’ guitar, torrid amplified harp and North Alabama swamp maniac (me) tromping on the vocals.”

You Better Run will be available on May 31.
