North Mississippi Allstars performed aboard New Orleans’ Riverboat CreoleQueen as part of Superfly During JazzFest’s concert series. The members of North Mississippi Allstars were augmented throughout the entire boat trip by trombonist Big Sam Williams and sousaphone player Kirk Joseph. In addition, longtime Royal Family/Beyonce drummer Nikki Glaspie sat in on a second drum kit throughout the entire show.

After the show, NMA guitarist Luther Dickinson ran over to Tipitina’s French Quarter to attend Anders Osborne’s performance with drummer Stanton Moore, guitarist Billy Iuso and bassist Carl Dufresne. Dickinson sat in with the group for a 90-minute stretch of music, including covers of Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter’s “Sugaree” and Neil Young’s “Cortez the Killer.” The North Mississippi Allstars will perform at Italy’s Le Baladin on May 4.
