Michael Franti and Guerrilla Management have announced that they will not host their annual Power to the Peaceful Festival this year. The San Francisco festival is scheduled to return in 2012. Power to the Peaceful’s promoters explain, “After 12 years, the free music, arts and action event has grown into an international destination experience incorporating a weekend of concerts, yoga, dj’s, action sports, environmental & social justice organizations and workshops with last year’s event attended by more than 80,000. In 2012 we will be transforming the festival into a celebration of the multi-cultural heritage of the Bay Area, returning to Golden Gate Park, bigger and better than ever.”

Franti goes on to explain, “In this time of great change in the world, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate peace than by bringing the music, food and culture of our diverse community all into one place. After 12 years of staging the festival, we’ve decided to take a breather in 2011 so we can put all of our energy into make the festival the most inspiring it can be in 2012!”

Franti will perform at Point Pleasant, NJ’s Jenkinson’s Pavilion on May 27.
