Drive-By Truckers celebrated their 15th anniversary this past Friday with a show at Richmond VA’s Brown’s Island. As Patterson Hood recalls, “We formed, played together for first time, and recorded 5 songs at Andy Baker’s old studio (house) in 1996. We recorded our 45 (‘Bulldozers and Dirt’ / ‘Nine Bullets’), the version of ‘Margo and Harold’ that is on PD and earlier versions of ‘Zoloft’ and ‘Careless.’ I brought pizza and beer and we all had so much fun we decided to play a few shows and see what happens.”

The group’s celebration will continue this coming week. In addition to a previously confirmed appearance at Pete Seeger’s Clearwater Festival in Croton-on-Hudson, NY on June 19, the group has added an underplay at Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Bowl on Monday, June 20. The band will then perform on Late Show with David Letterman on June 21. According to the Truckers’ camp, the group will honor one of Letterman’s personal song requests.
