Widespread Panic closed a three-night run at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre yesterday. The band currently holds the venue’s attendance record of more than 35 sold out shows. In celebration of their 25th anniversary and their decision to take an extended hiatus in 2012, Panic is “going out on a high note,” as keyboardist JoJo Hermann puts it.

Last night’s show was nothing but high notes. During the first set, Panic played completely original material, and for the second set, only covers, including renditions of Blind Faith’s wistful “Can’t Find My Way Home,” and Jimi Hendrix’s arrangement of “Wild Thing,” which Panic hadn’t played since the Halloween show in 2001. They ended with a climactic four-part encore that included Dire Straits’ “Sultans of Swing,” Tom Waits’s “Goin’ Out West” and Bloodkin’s “End of the Show,” a cover that featured frontman John Bell on mandolin.
