The Barr Brothers announced a new deal with Secret City Records today along with a string of summer and fall tour dates. On September 27, the Canadian label will officially release the Montreal-based quartet’s self titled debut, recorded in the Barr’s converted home studio in the summer of 2010. Featuring brothers Andrew (drums, percussion) Brad Barr (guitar, vox) of The Slip along with harpist Sarah Pagé and multi-instrumentalist Andres Vial, the album explores a stripped down progressive folk sound, highlighted by melodic instrumentation, African-inspired percussion and thought-provoking lyrics. Also included are guest appearances from Elizabeth Powell (Land of Talk) as well as Jocie Adams (The Low Anthem).

The Barrs hit the road next week for a stretch of dates largely centered around the group’s adopted home province of Quebec. See below for a full list of dates.
