Phish Offers Tahoe Webcast

Phish resumes its summer tour starting on Friday at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, WA. After two nights at the Gorge and an evening at the Hollywood Bowl, Phish heads to Tahoe for a pair of gigs at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena. These two shows are sold out, however the group has announced that it will offer webcasts of the performances via LivePhish.com. Each night is available for $14.99, with the pair offered at $24.99.

Ah, way to follow Jerry’s belief that “once we play the music, it no longer belongs to us. the fans can have it.” thanks for making us pay for this stream Troy

In response... August 2, 2011, 15:20:19

Phishfan… if you are streaming the music as it’s happening, it hasn’t been played yet. It’s the next closest thing to being there. Dont pay for it if you cant afford it maaaannnnn!

KB August 2, 2011, 15:21:40

Jerry said that, not phish. You had to buy dead albums they didn’t give them away for free. Producing the video feed isn’t free either…and have you already forgotten they gave away the entire weekend of Super Ball? Douche.

GmG August 2, 2011, 15:43:04

Phishfan you are a moron. The Grateful Dead had pay per view shows, 12-31-87 and 6-21-89 being two examples. Go back to PT with all the other idiots. You’re pathetic.

Mikes August 2, 2011, 16:16:58

I agree. The Dead used to stream shows on FM radio and what not, and that was free. Even the ABB streamed their show the other night on Sirius. The Phish could do something a little more fan friendly than a $15/night video stream

me August 2, 2011, 16:49:04

Okay, then Phish is anti-phan and likes to rip off their fans by forcing them to pay $15 for top notch web casts… now go climb back under your rock and please don’t show your face at a Phish show… and if you’re going to conveniently bring up the ABB, then let’s not forget their moog site, or whatever it is where they charge like $200 to see the Beacon run… christ, some people would cry if they shit gold bricks simply because they’re so heavy…

whats with all the negativity? How awesome to be able to be virtually there as it’s happening. This is AWESOME!

PK August 2, 2011, 18:51:25

Phish has a huge following and no doubt will have a huge audience for the webcasts, I think $15 a show and $25 for both is a bit steep in terms of the price. All of you people on here that want to insult people for feeling that way need to grow up, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Cleeetus August 2, 2011, 19:21:03

I can’t believe the selfishness and sense of entitlement. $15 per webcast is a steal. you can gather 15 friends around a big screen and have a live Phish show in your livingroom for $1 each. What does Netflix charge per movie? Cheapskates.

adks12020 August 2, 2011, 22:06:37

people can talk all the smack they want. i can’t be in tahoe and i can afford it, so i will be ordering it, sparking a giant spliff, cracking a couple good beers and enjoying it with a couple of friends.

Ultimately who gives a rats ass August 3, 2011, 10:40:23

PK is right..especially since some of us remember SEEING the DEAD for 15$..that said..15$ is a steal to not have to be around a bunch of backward baseball cap wearin nerds jumpin around like babies watchin yo gabba gabba

i don’t even like music.

TheBrain August 3, 2011, 12:27:57

oh geez, what a whiner. Phish isn’t the Dead; they don’t sound the same, they don’t look the same, they don’t tour the same and tgheir policies don’t all have3 to be the same. As a fan since the mid-90s, I can say that I believe Phish to be very, very fan friendly. Thery still got to eat. If it’s too much money, don’t buy it.

Roland Schragis August 3, 2011, 13:14:41

Here’s a way to make everybody happy and save money:
(1) If you are not in a position to be at Tahoe next week, and Phish has no webcast, how is your life altered?
(2) If you have $15 bucks for the webcast, put it up on your flatscreen, invite 15 friends and you pay nothing.
(3) If you are in Tahoe and have no tickets, just park backstage at the Horizon casino and listen liv, for free.
(4) Wait 2 years for Phish to put the show out on DVD, then borrow one and copy it.
(5) Don’t everybody be so negative. Get an instrument and make your own music and don’t complain about others’ ability to entertain you.

Roland Schragis August 3, 2011, 13:31:36

I just read that somebody paid $15 to see the Dead? On 5-20-73 I paid $4.50 to see the Dead, and New Riders of the Purple Sage opened. Now that’s a bargain! Still have the ticket stub; I think that’s the only thing that I have left from ’73 besides memories

Admiral Ackbar August 3, 2011, 14:26:39

I just read that due to the phenomenon of inflation, all else equal, prices of goods tend to rise over time. So the $30 to see the Dead on NYE ’88 would be about $58 in 2011 dollars. Which (like magic!) is roughly what Phish charged for a show on the same date 22 years later. Isn’t that WEIRD!? /trap

sean August 4, 2011, 04:21:04

someone got owned

hardloofa August 5, 2011, 20:41:35

I am glad Phish is swimming in the profit of their success and so are their kids. I am psyched for the webcast! Thanks Phish for the opportunity to feel the love in my living room…

brandon August 6, 2011, 07:07:52

Nobody should be hating. Phish in SLT y’all!!! Give it up! Hike of Tallac -> Harvey’s in one day for the boys! Hellz yeah. Get out there and show your love kids; this is some special schtick!

jimmy August 8, 2011, 17:36:53

well yes, I probably would cry if I shit gold bricks, cause they have pointy edges and would hurt coming out (have you seen the size of those)... but then I would be happy that I could pay for this webcast.

JoshC104 August 10, 2011, 00:03:49
