Back on July 7, 1997, Phish appeared at Spiaggia di Rivoltella in Desenzano (Brescia), Italy. Before the free outdoor show, Phish offered a public soundcheck on the afternoon of the performance. During the course of this, Jon Fishman took lead vocals on versions of Hanson’s “MMMBop,” as well as “You Shook Me All Night Long.” This in turn led to a limbo contest which took place simultaneously with audience karaoke, as Phish backed attendees such as songs as Van Morrison’s “And It Stoned Me” and My Bloody Valentine’s “Only Shallow.” A piece of the action appears above, with much more (in a larger format) featured today on the Relix video blog.
