New York City based “Sci-fi Middle Eastern Funk” group Consider The Source recently announced a two night run that will bring them to The NorthStar Bar in Philadelphia on September 7 and Drom nightclub in New York City on September 8. The trio—which was once featured in the August 2009 issue of Relix as a band “On The Verge”—will be supported by Morglbl from France and Freak Kitchen from Sweden. The shows are billed as “The International Guitar Showcase,” and will highlight the abilities of each of the band’s guitarists. Consider The Source’s Gabriel Marin, dubbed “the guiding light for his generation of six-stringers” by The Buffalo Times, plays a double neck fretless guitar, and has appeared on stage with Victor Wooten and Wayne Krantz, while Christophe Godin (Morglbl) and Mattias Eklundh (Freak Kitchen) have both written several instructional manuals on their particular style of playing.

Consider The Source also provided the details regarding a fundraiser for their upcoming tour of Israel and Europe. Last year the group traveled to Turkey and Israel, where they sold out a prestigious venue in the heart of Tel Aviv. Rewards for donations include a handwritten letter by the three band members, a live acoustic performance, and even a home-cooked meal by a band member.
