String Cheese, Dark Star and Donna Jean with The Werks

The Werks hosted their second annual Werk Out Festival this past weekend at the Zane Shawnee Caverns in Bellefontaine, Ohio. String Cheese Incident members Michael Kang, Kyle Hollingsworth, Michael Travis and Jason Hann all appeared and joined the host group in a version of the Everyone Orchestra that saw the SCI members perform on some Werks originals while Kang sang “Best Feeling” backed by The Werks. Another highlight of the EO set was a 10-minute drum breakdown featuring Hann on The Werks’ song “Rollin’.” Beyond this, Johnny Neel sat in with the Werks on multiple tunes, while New Mastersounds keyboard player Joe Tatton also appeared with the band. One final highlight for The Werks and their fans came when former Grateful Dead vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux sang on “Shakedown Street,” with Dark Star Orchestra members Jeff Matson, Rob Barraco, and Rob Koritz joining in as well.

The Werks will return to the stage on September 21 at the Clazel in Bowling Green, OH.

Actually… The only songs performed during the EO set were ‘Stir it up’ and ‘Best Feeling’. The rest of the set was conducted interactive improv. Including the new song” High Point in Ohio” that they created on the spot. Sick
