Wilco guitarist Nels Cline will be featured on the new album Open Source, the sixth recording by violinist/composer/producer Jeff Gauthier and his ensemble of almost 20 years, The Jeff Gauthier Goatette. Cline will be joined by his twin brother Alex Cline on drums and percussion, trumpeter John Fumo, keyboardist David Witham and bassist Joel Hamilton. Open Source will feature seven compositions, including four by Gauthier, one by David Witham, one by the late Eric von Essen, and one by jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman.

Gauthier has played violin through the years with such eclectic artists as Yusef Lateef, Adam Rudolph, Mark Dresser and Vinny Golia. He’s also worked as a producer or executive producer for an extensive list of musicians, including Alan Broadbent, Peter Erskine, Bennie Maupin, Myra Melford, Jimmy Rowles, among others. He will also curate New York’s The Stone the first two weeks of November. The Goatette is slated to perform at the venue on Saturday, November 5.
