The annual Austin City Limits Festival took place this past weekend. My Morning Jacket performed on Saturday night and once again brought out their pals Preservation Hall Jazz Band (who were at the festival for a set with Del McCoury Band). This time the members of Preservation Hall sat in on “Holdin On To Black Metal,” “Dancefloors” and “One Big Holiday” at the end of MMJ’s set.

While in Austin, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James opened for Iron & Wine at Stubb’s on Sunday night. James switched between bass and omni throughout his set and brought out Centro-matic/Monsters of Folk’s Will Johnson to sing on a few songs, including “Golden” and “Bermuda Highway.” At the end of James’ set, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band also made their way to the stage for “Our Master’s Voice.” James also sat in with Iron & Wine at the end of their set for a cover of “Stuck On You” that fell at the end of a Lionel Richie medley.
