As previously reported, Preservation Hall Jazz Band will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a special show at New York’s Carnegie Hall on Saturday, January 7. The veteran New Orleans Act has now confirmed that a number of guests will join them during the performance, including My Morning Jacket, Allen Toussaint, GIVERS, Trombone Shorty, Del McCoury Band, Blind Boys of Alabama, Mos Def and Tao Seeger.

Each special guest has a rich history with Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Del McCoury Band recently recorded a collaborative album with the group and the two veteran outfits toured as a expanded ensemble. My Morning Jacket’s Jim James also recorded with Preservation Hall Jazz Band in recent years and the Jacket took Preservation Hall Jazz Band on the road in 2010. Preservation Hall Jazz Band appeared on the Blind Boys of Alabama’s Down in New Orleans and the two American institutions have toured together on a few occasions. Mos Def helped the group raise awareness about the oil spill in the Gulf Coast last year and, like James, Tao Seeger recorded with the band on its Preserved record. Allen Toussaint, GIVERS and Trombone Shorty all hail from New Orleans. Tickets will be available this Friday.
