A look at UM’s 12/29 show

Umphrey’s McGee both nodded to a hero-turned-friend and previewed their New Year’s Show at St. Louis, CO’s The Pageant last night. During their second set, the group invited out Dave Matthews Band/Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin for a debut cover of Hall & Oates’ “Maneater.” The members of Umphrey’s McGee are longtime fans of Hall & Oates and had the opportunity to play with John Oates a few times in 2011. The band will also collaborate with the Yacht Rock legend on Jam Cruise. Coffin—an old pal of the band—remained onstage for “Night Nurse.” He will join the group at The Pageant this evening for his now somewhat regular New Year’s Eve performance with the group.
