According to a statement from Black Sabbath, guitarist Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma. The statement asks fans to send good vibes to the guitiarist, who is currently working with doctors to determine the best treatment plan and remains “upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.” This news comes just months after the group announced their plans to record their first album in 33 years with producer Rick Rubin and tour behind it in 2012. The band’s statement does not say whether or not the tour will be affected by Iommi’s condition, but does mention that the band will travel to the UK to continue to work with Iommi.
