The current issue of Relix celebrates the 20th anniversary of the first H.O.R.D.E. tour through candid interviews with alums like John Popper, Mike Gordon, Col. Bruce Hampton, Page McConnell, Chris Barron, Bela Fleck, John Bell and many others. To coincide with the issue’s release, our sister site Relix.com is also streaming highlights from a number of the tour’s stops.

String Cheese Incident keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth attended the first H.O.R.D.E. festival as a fan and recently wrote an essay about his experiences on the seminal tour. “I saw so much music that day,” Hollingsworth says of the tour’s stop in Columbia, MD. “ARU, Widespread Panic, Blues Traveler, and my favorites Bela and Spin Doctors. It was a wild environment. I had been to many Dead shows and was used to the hippie scene, but this was different.” Though String Cheese Incident never played H.O.R.D.E., they have appeared on several like-minded, collaborative tours like Big Summer Classic.
