Two members of Widespread Panic have confirmed some extracurricular activities while their band is off the road. Percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz will play a free show as part of Debris at Athens, GA’s Athens Cine on May 28. The Memorial Day performance will kick off at 8 PM. In addition to Sunny, the band features Isaac Bramblett, Damian Kapcala, Kyle Pilgrim, John Stefft, Nic Walton and Britt West. The Athens musicians promise a mix of originals and choice covers.

In related news, on May 14 guirarist Jimmy Herring will head into the studio to start work on his sophomore solo album. After playing with different bands for decades, Herring released his solo debut Lifeboat in 2008. Herring will also hit the road in August for a solo tour.
