Earlier this morning we reported that North Mississippi Allstars bassist Chris Chew was hospitalized in Portland, OR due to complications from diabetes. North Mississippi Allstars drummer Cody Dickinson has now sent out an update of his own. Earlier this morning Dickinson tweeted, “Chris Chew is out of coma and breathing on his own. It is a beautiful day.” North Mississippi Allstars members Cody Dickinson and Luther Dickinson are slated to perform at Bonnaroo this weekend as part of The Word.

It seems as though the music world has been getting hit with a lot of heavy news. Its a joy to hear Chris Chew has made it through the coma and is even breathing on his own. It really makes me think about the things we take for granted, I take for granted. Breathing. Waking up each day. Perspective helps me realize just what a blessing it is to be able to do these seemingly simple things. A beautiful day indeed.
