A recent Terrapin Crossroads jam session

Phil Lesh hosted another free show at his San Rafael, CA venue Terrapin Crossroads last night. Like many of the bassist’s free gigs, the performance took place in the club’s bar space and was announced online a few hours before show time. In addition to Lesh on bass, the evening’s band featured Lesh’s son Grahame Lesh, Ross James and Ryan Adams & the Cardinals’ Jon Graboff.

The evening presented an interesting mix of Grateful Dead originals and covers. Of particular note, Grahame Lesh sang lead on Neil Young’s “Old Man” and The Band’s “Unfaithful Servant” while Graboff sang William Bell’s “You Don’t Miss Your Water” and Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” Graboff and the Leshes also shared vocals on The Band sing-along “The Weight.”

Lesh will host another West Coast Ramble at Terrapin Crossroads this Friday.
