On June 29 three of New York City’s most acclaimed and interesting percussionists will descend upon Brooklyn’s ShapeShifter Lab for a unique night of music. Dubbed “Beat Masters,” the event brings together Billy Martin (of Medeski, Martin and Wood fame), Amir Zev of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and Brazilian percussion legend Cyro Baptista, founder of Beat The Donkey amongst other projects. Coming together just for one night, the trio aims to “prove that innovative compositional & sonic ideas X unpredictable tempo and energy = exponential illumination.” The event starts at 8:30 and tickets can be purchased online for $15 or $12 for students.
