On August 1, the San Francisco Giants will host a Jerry Garcia-themed park day in honor of the late guitarist’s 70th birthday. Garcia was a San Fransisco native, born and raised in the city’s Excelsior District before going on to form the the Grateful Dead.
To commemorate the anniversary, AT&T Park will host a concert by Moonalice featuring songs by the Grateful Dead before the Giants’ game versus the New York Mets. Each attendee will receive a free Jerry Garcia bobblehead.

Ticket proceeds will be donated to the Rex Foundation, a Grateful Dead family-run organization that aims to “help secure a healthy environment, promote individuality in the arts, provide support to critical and necessary social services, assist others less fortunate than ourselves, protect the rights of indigenous people and ensure their cultural survival, build a stronger community, and educate children and adults everywhere.”
