San Francisco Giants Jerry Garcia Day

On August 1, the San Francisco Giants will host a Jerry Garcia-themed park day in honor of the late guitarist’s 70th birthday. Garcia was a San Fransisco native, born and raised in the city’s Excelsior District before going on to form the the Grateful Dead.
To commemorate the anniversary, AT&T Park will host a concert by Moonalice featuring songs by the Grateful Dead before the Giants’ game versus the New York Mets. Each attendee will receive a free Jerry Garcia bobblehead.

Ticket proceeds will be donated to the Rex Foundation, a Grateful Dead family-run organization that aims to “help secure a healthy environment, promote individuality in the arts, provide support to critical and necessary social services, assist others less fortunate than ourselves, protect the rights of indigenous people and ensure their cultural survival, build a stronger community, and educate children and adults everywhere.”

For more information, check out the event’s website here.

Looks like tickets to the game are available, but not for the special sections or for the bobble head. Above the flyer on the website it says “sold out”...there is no “buy tickets” button as there is for most of the other special events.

Too bad we can’t just order a Jerry Bobble-head to help out the Rex Foundation.
