Charlie Hunter will team up with drummer Scott Amendola on a new album, titled Not Getting Behind Is The New Getting Ahead, due out on October 2. Following last years’ Public Domain, which featured selections written during the first half of the 1900s, this album will include the guitarist’s first recording of original material in three years.

“Our intention in making this record was to tell a bunch of stories around the central theme of the album’s title,” says Hunter. “The new tunes are meant to evoke some of the things you might see in your travels through the USA these days. Scott and I wanted to think of each composition as a starting point for some kind of narrative.”

The album was recorded live to two-track analog 1/4-inch tape by noted sound engineer Dave McNair with no headphones, mixing, editing, or overdubs. See below for the full tracklisting.
