Tom Tom Club To Release Downtown Rockers

On September 11, Tom Tom Club will release a new six song EP. Downtown Rockers presents the group’s first new material in over a decade. Chris Frantz explains, “We recorded the basic tracks soon after Tom Tom Club toured with the Psychedelic Furs in October of 2011 at our home studio. These tracks were built from improvised jam sessions with Bruce Martin on keyboards and Pablo Martin on guitar, Tina Weymouth on bass and Chris Frantz on drums. This is the same way we began Remain In Light with Talking Heads. This time our only instruction to the other players was to keep the parts simple with lots of space like Booker T. and the MGs would do.” The title track pays tribute to the New York City downtown music scene of the 1970s.

Hey there! So nice to hear from you! I’ve missed you on teiwttr lately. Yep, been real busy here, still more work to do though, but that’s always how it is. Right now I’m starting the process of applying for artist residencies and attempting some grant writing, so now I’m really busy. Hope all is going well for you!

Picking a favorite of your work on Weir Farm semeed like a good idea until I saw these beauties! I love the icy blues in Ice and Rocks, but you’ve caught the icy temperature so well that need to rush back to warm up in those yummy warm oranges in Rocks and Moss . Wonderful, wonderful work!
