Bruce Springsteen Plays Record-Breaking Show in Helinski

On Tuesday, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band hosted the final European show on their current Wrecking Ball tour. But judging by the setlist from the performance in in Helsinki, Finland, you would be forgiven for thinking it was the man’s last show ever.

Not including the five-song soundcheck, the Boss played a total of 33 songs (including 10 encores), adding up to a four-hour-and-six-minute show, the longest of his storied career. Springsteen ran through songs that spanned the length of his discography, including a number of fan requests that he hand-picked before the show. According to one fan who posted a comment on Bruce Springsteen’s website about the show:

At the end of [soundcheck] ... he climbed down to the audience, and he began a ten minute run of the barrier. Shaking a series of hands (and occasionally getting a peck on the cheek from young Helsinki women), he collected cardboard signs which would occupy his dressing room as he composed the set list.

The next stop on Springsteen’s Wrecking Ball tour is Boston’s Fenway Park on August 14.

Not a fan of Bruce… but I certainly respect the man, his music and his consideration of his fans… nice job Bruce!

Nice of Bruce to set a new record for his longest show ever in … EUROPE. What say you break that record in NJ next month, Bruce. Because it should be held by an AMERICAN show.

I was there. Epic show. But the first songs were not a soundcheck. It was a surprise mini solo acoustic set.

You played a record show in front of adoring fans and I went to work struggling to make my mortgage payment this month, and your depressed?..Just another rich brat, oh poor you!.
I wouldn’t pay a dollar to see this over rated a hole.

Poor reporting, by all other accounts it wasn’t a soundcheck, but a solo set put on for fans who’d been waiting hours and hours to get up front. Also, @Tom, what the f*ck is your problem? Why come in here just to bitch & moan? Go see your shrink if you want someone to care. Bruce always takes care of his fans, seen him a few times and can’t wait to see him again!
