John Geils, of J. Geils Band fame, has filed a lawsuit against his bandmates Richard Salwitz, Danny Klein, Peter Wolf, and Seth Justman over naming rights to the band. The lawsuit, filed in Boston Superior Court, claims that the other members of the band “planned and conspired” to exclude Geils from performing with them under the J. Geils Band name on a recently announced tour. The frontman of the 70’s rock band is seeking full rights to the trademark, prevention of other members’ use of the name, and damages, according to the Reuters report.

The band had originally planned 11 concerts without Geils as “The J. Geils Band,” which was set to begin August 25th in Syracuse, New York.
