Phish frontman Trey Anastasio will release his forthcoming solo album, titled Traveler on October 16 via Rubber Jungle/ATO. The album was co-produced byAnastasio and Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Jonsi) last fall in Katis’ Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, CT. In addition to the core members of the Trey Anastasio Band, Katis invited guest artists including Mates of State’s Kori Gardner, The National’s Bryan Devendorf and Matt Berninger, and Icelandic percussionist Samuli Kosminen. As previously reported, Anastasio’s new single, titled “Scabbard,” comes out on August 21 and will be made available as a 7” vinyl.

“My goal was to create an album that used the studio as an instrument,” says Anastasio, who began recording Traveler after Phish wrapped up its 2011 summer tour. “I wanted to work with Peter because he is a master at creating a sonic landscape,” notes Trey. “We were hoping for a cinematic end result.”

In support of the release, Anastasio will hit the road for a series of dates this fall. The tour kicks off on October 18 at the The Fillmore
Detroit, MI and will see Big Red and company visit cities including Chicago, Columbus, Richmond, New York and Boston. Anastasio will also visit the soon-to-be-reopened Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on October 28. See below for the full tour itinerary.

Tickets will be available for presale beginning August 16 at 10 AM EST and ending August 22 at 5 PM EST here. Tickets go on sale to the general public August 23 at 10 AM EST.
