Yonder Mountain String Band headlined their two-day Kinfolk Celebration in Lyons, CO this past weekend. With the exception of some appearances at Telluride Bluegrass in June, these were Yonder’s only Colorado shows this summer. Besides to Yonder, the weekend featured performances by Greensky Bluegrass, Todd Snider, Split Lip Rayfield and Larry Keel & Natural Bridge. Infamous Stringdusters guitarist Andy Hall also joined Yonder as an unofficial fifth member of the band for both of their shows during the weekend.

After his performance at the festival with Natural Bridge, guitarist Larry Keel joined in on the action for the last three songs of Yonder’s set on Friday. Those numbers included, “My Gal,” “Snow On The Pines” and “Raleigh & Spencer.” The band continued their summer-long Jerry Garcia tribute on Saturday as well with an encore of Jerry Garcia Band’s “Reuben And Cerise.”

A few weeks ago, Yonder Mountain also put on a multi-night stand earlier this month at North Plain, OR’s Northwest String Summit. The three-night stand included a sit-in by Keel, a multiple song appearance by Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzman, cameos from banjo player Danny Barnes and a weekend-long accompaniment from Darol Anger on fiddle.
