Dave Matthews Band headlined a three-show, guest-heavy run through California this past weekend. On Friday night, DMB performed at Chula Vista, CA’s Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre. The show fell on what would have been saxophonist LeRoi Moore’s 51st birthday, and the band nodded to their fallen bandmate twice during the show. At the start of the night, DMB opened with the Moore tribute “Why I Am” and, later in the night, Matthews talked about the saxophonist before “Mercy.” Trombonist Lasim Richards, who worked with Soulive alongside current DMB trumpeter Rashawn Ross, also sat in on a few songs, including “Belly Belly Nice,” “The Dreaming Tree,” “Shake Me Like a Monkey” and “Jimi Thing.”

From there, the tour moved to Irvine, CA where Dave Matthews Band headlined the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Richard returned for a few songs, including a show-opening “Seven,” “The Dreaming Tree,” “Corn Bread” and “Shake Me Like a Monkey.” Guitarist Stanley Jordan, who has sat in with Dave Matthews Band a number of times this summer, also took the stage for “Rhyme & Reason” and “The Dreaming Tree.” With their new album Away From the World slated for release tomorrow, the group also debuted two of that album’s tracks, “Rooftop” and “Snow Outside.”

Finally, last night Dave Matthews Band performed at Mountain View, CA’s Shoreline Amphitheatre. Jordan came along for the ride and joined Dave Matthews Band onstage for “Satellite” and “Lie in Our Graves.”

Dave Matthews Band will celebrate the release of their new album at Hollywood, CA’s Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday. Jordan will join DMB during their set.
