Ben Harper and harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite will release the collaborative album Get Up! on January 29, 2013 via Stax Records/Concord Music Group. Recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Harper, Get Up! features 12 new songs written or co-written by the guitarist.

“Charlie and I have been looking to make this record for over ten years and now that we’ve gotten to it,” Harper said in a statement. “I can’t wait to play it live.”

“Ben and I really locked in, personally and musically, when we recorded with John Lee Hooker,” adds Musselwhite. “Ever since then we wanted to record together and being in the studio together is just a natural. You can hear it and feel it in the music on Get Up!

Harper has played with a diverse mix of musicians since putting his longtime band Innocent Criminals on ice. Get Up! is described as “a striking mix of blues, gospel, roots and R&B.”
Throughout the album, the duo are backed by Jason Mozersky (guitar), Jesse Ingalls (bass) and Jordan Richardson (drums). The three musicians have backed Harper since 2008 as Harper’s recent support group Relentless7.
