Asheville, NC’s Moogfest has been renamed and re-branded as the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit. The news came yesterday when the festival’s promoter AC Entertainment announced that Moog Music Inc. would no longer be licensing the Moogfest name. The re-branded event will continue to take place in Asheville, though there will likely be more changes beyond the name. AC Entertainment CEO Ashley Capps said, “We’re taking this opportunity to rethink the event a bit and challenge ourselves. While we are still focused on Halloween weekend, that time of year has its difficulties and we’ve been encouraged to consider other options. This part of the world is a very special place – hence the name, Mountain Oasis.”

This year’s Moogfest took place on October 26 and 27 and featured performances by Primus 3D, Orbital, Nas, Explosions in the Sky, Shpongle, GZA present Liquid Swords and more, as well as a variety of panels on topics related to technology and music. Additional details on the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit will be released in 2013.
