Tonight’s BCS Championship football game between Notre Dame and the University of Alabama has been getting a lot of attention the past few days. With their spotlight aimed directly at these two schools, ESPN, which has been on the lookout for new perspectives on the game, has turned to the musical realm, via Umphrey’s McGee. The “hard-to-define but mostly prog rock jam band” (ESPN’s words) was profiled in an article on the sports network’s website the other day. The article, which you can read here, primarily deals with the band’s connection to Notre Dame, as well as their love of sports in general. Guitarist/singer Brendan Bayliss, bassist Ryan Stasik and keyboardist Joel Cummins are alumni of the University, which currently sits at #1 in the BCS rankings. The BCS Championship game will take place tonight at 8:30pm EST at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL.
