Garage a Trois Original Flavors to Perform at Megalomaniacs Ball

Megalomaniacs Ball, an annual New Orleans event timed with the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, will take place at the Howlin’ Wolf on May 1. As usual, the all-night event will feature members of Garage a Trois family—Galactic’s Stanton Moore, Mike Dillon, Skerik and Marco Benevento—along with their individual projects. However, this year’s mico-fest will feature an added bonus.

For the first time in a number of years, original Garage a Trois members Moore, Skerik and Charlie Hunter will share the stage. The trio will perform together as GAT Original Flavor (Stanton Moore Trio feat. Skerik and Charlie Hunter). The rest of the evening’s lineup includes a Marco Benevento solo set (9 PM), Skerik, Mike Dillon & George Porter Trio (10 PM), Mike Dillon Band (11PM) and Moore’s Midnight Disturbers (1:30 AM). GAT Original Flavors will perform at midnight while Yojimbo will perform in the venue’s Den space.

Hunter, Skerik and Moore first came together as Garage a Trois for the Galactic drummer’s album All Kooked Out! in 1998. Dillon joined in a few years later, though the band kept the Trois name. Hunter stopped performing with GAT in 2006 and, after a few years of sporadic guest appearances, Benevento formally joined the outfit.
