GABE featuring George Porter Jr., Anders Osborne, Billy Iuso and Eric Bolivar, Dragon Smoke with Ivan Neville, Stanton Moore, Robert Mercurio and Eric Lindell, Dr. Klaw featuring Eric Krasno, Nigel Hall, Ian Neville, Adam Deitch and Nick Daniels will be at the Fiya Fest Crawfish Boil in New Orleans, LA. The event—which will take place at the Old Ironworks from 12pm-10pm on May 3—is a fundraiser for the Roots of Music after school music education program. The one-day festival will also feature Karl Denson with the Dirty Dozen Horns, Nikki Glaspie, Eddie Roberts, Robert Walter, Jennifer Hartswick and Natalie Cressman, The New Orleans Suspect with the Bonerama Horns, Funky but Better with Big Sam, Terence Higgins, Roosevelt Collier, Nigel Hall, Khris Royal, Doug Wimbish and Eric McFadden, and The Revivalists. Corey Glover (Galactic/ Living Colour), Mike Dillon and Skerik will be at the event as Artists-At-Large. The full lineup can be viewed below.

Fiya Fest will take place on the second Friday of Jazz Fest in New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood. Fiyawerx Production, the producers of the event, are asking for help from anyone that would be interested in sponsorship on any level. Money, product, food, crawfish, soft drinks, water, liquor, event/sound/stage equipment, services and other donations are readily appreciated and accepted in any form. In return for sponsorship, the sponsoring company’s logo will be included in all promotion material that will be circulated city-wide, and they will be listed a supporter of the Roots of Music.

The Roots of Music’s mission is to support, teach, and protect at-risk youth through music education, academic support, and mentorship while preserving and promoting New Orleans great musical and cultural heritage. The program is New Orleans’ only free year-round academic and music education program, and provides 140 kids with instruction in the areas of music, academics, positive behavior, civic responsibility and life skills. Roots of Music was founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when the music programs at many of the city’s schools were shut down. The program is run by Rebirth Brass Band drummer Derrick Tabb and Allison Reinhardt.
