Legendary Southern fiddler, guitarist and frontman Charlie Daniels is currently in a Nashville hospital recovering from surgery to implant a pacemaker. During a visit to the doctor, Daniels was diagnosed with a mild case of pneumonia, and subsequent testing indicated that he required a pacemaker to regulate his heart rate. The device was implanted in an operation earlier today, and Daniels is expected to remain at the hospital through tomorrow.

Two upcoming dates for Charlie Daniels Band—April 5 in Bergen, NJ and April 6 in Newark, OH—have been cancelled, but will be rescheduled as soon as possible. Additionally, Daniels’ scheduled appearance at the Wold Outreach Church Easter service in Murfreesboro, TN has also been cancelled. Daniels plans to spend the next two weeks at home, and expects a full recovery.
