Jounce will open for Mark Mulcahy at Hamden, CT’s Spaceland Ballroom on July 12. Mulcahy is the former singer of Miracle Legion and the force behind the mostly TV-based band Polaris. Notably, Polaris wrote the music for TV show The Adventures of Pete & Pete, which stared Jounce bassist/singer Danny Tamberelli. The Mountain Movers and The Backyard Committee will perform on the bill.

Mulcahy rarely performed live for many years. In 2009, Thom Yorke, Frank Black, The National, Dinosaur Jr., Michael Stipe, Juliana Hatfield, Mercury Rev, David Berkeley and Frank Turner all contributed to the tribute album Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy, which benefited Mulcahy after his wife died in 2008. Mulcahy started to gig out on occasion in 2012 and performed with Polaris at a 2012 live The Adventures of Pete & Pete reunion show.
