New Orleans trumpeter and vocalist Kermit Ruffins will release a new studio album this spring. Dubbed We Partyin’ Traditional Style!, Ruffins’ latest album is slated for release on May 28 via Basin Street Records.

For the record, the Treme star cherry-picked a set of “20th century” New Orleans classics and reworked them to reflect New Orleans’ current sound. Shannon Powell (drums), Steve Pistorius (piano), Richard Moten (bass), Don Vappie (banjo), Lucien Barbarin (trombone) and Tom Fischer (clarinet) serve as his backing band throughout the record. Mykia Jovan also joins Kermit for a duet on the Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons hit “All Of Me.” Other tracks featured on the album include: “Careless Love,” “I Guess I’ll Get the Papers and Go Home,” “Jeepers Creepers,” “Over The Waves,” “When It’s Sleepy Time Down South” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

Ruffins will play his regular gig at New Orleans’ Bullet’s Sports Bar tomorrow.
