Arcade Fire violinist Sarah Neufeld will release her debut solo record, Hero Brother, on August 20 via Constellation Records.
Neufeld, who is also a member of Bell Orchestre, counts Bela Bartok, Steve Reich, Iva Bittova and Arthur Russell as some of the formative influences on her solo work, in tandem with the textures and sensibilities of contemporary electro-acoustic, avant-folk and indie rock music.

Hero Brother expands on Neufeld’s inspirations and experience, flowing through shifting atmospheres and oscillating between restrained, ambiance, emotive études, and raw kinetic energy.

Neufeld will be touring internationally as a soloist extensively throughout 2013-2014, alongside her ongoing commitments with Arcade Fire. As previously reported, Arcade Fire are currently working on their fourth full-length album with James Murphy.

Neufeld will perform at Quebec, QC’s Le Cercle with Colin Stetson tomorrow. For more on her career arc, please read our recent site interview.
