A few months back we reported that Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo and Les Claypool were pitching a new reality series involving fishing. Now it seems like production is underway and the duo are holding a contest in order to choose a fan to appear on the show. The instructions for the contest are as follows:

Do you wanna fish with Claypool and Deaner? If so, use your smartphone/Iphone and send us a close up video saying so, ‘I wanna fish with Claypool and Deaner!’ is the phrase we are looking for. Be creative but try to keep it head or face shot and 5 seconds MAX. Email submission to [email protected]

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will produce the project, and different celebrity guests will appear on the show. Primus provided South Park with its theme song and the show’s creators helped Claypool with his jamband spoof Electric Apricot.

“The show is personality-driven,” Melchiondo told the The Star Ledger. “The idea is to get the show on after Anthony Bourdain or ‘Tosh.O.’ It’s a fishing show that you do not have to be into fishing to enjoy.” Melchiondo added, “Part of the plan is to do music on the show and also create the soundtrack.”

The Ween guitarist leads fishing trips in the New Jersey area. Claypool is also an avid fisherman and has written many fish-related songs. Ween officially parted ways last year and Melchiondo is currently working on a range of solo projects.
