Robert Randolph, John Fogerty, Gary Clark Jr., Trombone Shorty and More to Help Revive H.O.R.D.E. Tour

Robert Randolph plans to revive the H.O.R.D.E. tour, according to an interview with Radio.com.

“We’re in the process of re-branding the H.O.R.D.E. tour,” Randolph said in the interview. “We’ll be bringing that out with a group of bands and artists that the fans will really enjoy. We’ve got Trombone Shorty and John Fogerty and Gary Clark Jr., we’re gonna invite Blues Traveler out since it was their original idea back in the early ’90s.” He goes on to say that the festival will have a “soft launch this fall with 6-7 dates with the artists he named, and the tour will have a larger slate of dates in the spring or summer of 2014.”

Randolph will release the new studio album Lickety Split on July 16. The last H.O.R.D.E. festival toured in 1998.

Not a bad idea. Not a bad group of acts. Now make it the right price, and we will come. :)

“we’re gonna invite Blues Traveler out since…” Oh well, I was going to go. Not if Bluesd Traveler is playing.

Original HORDE was great, a mini-fest where you get a full day of music and don’t have to run from stage to stage and I like the lineup! @bj… glad to hear that, Shorty is doing a free show at the Rochester Jazz Fest in a few weeks, can’t wait to see him! @ Mpeg Fred… good, no one wants a hater standing next to them at a show… so you stay home and type comments about bands you don’t like…

PNW_Wildcat May 29, 2013, 17:44:16

Fred… John Popper and Blues Traveler were the driving force behind the birth of the festival. Don’t be such a hater.

They should add Big Head Todd to the lineup, fo sho.

Trey May 29, 2013, 23:32:47

Hey, no love for the rest of the Horde ol timers?

TCinNYC May 30, 2013, 09:34:25

92 HORDE at Jones Beach was one of the happiest days of my music loving life. It was affirmation of the scene I participated in & the bands i loved the most. A special time for sure!!

Doug May 30, 2013, 15:28:53

It would not be HORDE without Blues Traveler… Please tell me there is a date expected in the North East.

Hole May 31, 2013, 10:44:50

HORDE was designed to expose up and coming bands. And Popper and BT spearheaded it. That is like Robert Patrick of Filter saying he is going to revive Perry Farrels Lolla.

Johnny Bravo May 31, 2013, 12:12:49

Best HORDE Line-up was Taj Mahal, Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers, Black Crowes & Blues Traveler.

IZ June 1, 2013, 01:59:21

Johnny Bravo, saw similar line-up in ’95 but featured God Street Wine instead of Taj, and Wilco on side stage touring in support of “A.M.”! That was my first show and changed my world, so glad to see HORDE is making a comeback with a stable of great artists.

Shred June 5, 2013, 12:43:27

Um there was only one great line up for the HORDE-
Phish BT Spins WSP ARU
The only thing I ever wonder is why didn’t Jerry come out for one show?

Eric Barndt June 7, 2013, 12:43:17

Atlanta – circa 1992: Spins (kinda sucked), WSP (I think), ARU (totally killed it), but the guys that tore everyone’s face off were Bela and Flectones. The place was silent when they played while everyone’s jaws were on the gound. Then when they stopped the place erupted. LIke TCinNYC said – super special day in my life.

dk70 June 7, 2013, 16:21:41

Shred is right on. Most NYCers came to see Blues Traveler, tolerated (barely) The Spin Doctors and were curious about Phish. Horde was also the first time most people heard of ARU and Widespread . ARU was over most peoples heads but were totally sick. When Phish came out they obliterated everyone and basically nabbed all of the GSAC (as it was called pre PNC) faithful in one night.
