Adrian Belew Drops Out of Nine Inch Nails

It doesn’t look like things are going too well for the newly reunited Nine Inch Nails. Just a couple of weeks after bassist Eric Avery dropped out of the band, it appears that King Crimson’s Adrian Belew is leaving the group as well. Consequence of Sound is reporting that the guitarist posted a (since deleted) message on his Facebook page which read:
hey folks, before this goes too far let me say this: I greatly respect trent and the music he makes. no one is at fault. we both agreed it just was not working. I’m sorry to disappoint anyone. that really hurts. but NIN will do an amazing show and I am back where I belong: creating FLUX. (Flux is an interactive music service that Belew has been working on.)
After deleting the above post, Belew replaced the message with another statement that read, “concerning me being part of the 2013 Nine Inch Nails band: it didn’t work.”
The news comes right on the heels of a big day for Nine Inch Nails. The band unveiled a full tour, a new single and the release of their forthcoming album yesterday. There’s no word yet on who will replace Belew, but longtime NIN collaborator Robin Finck joined the band following Avery’s departure.
