Mickey Hart will release “Drum Ki,” a fine art collection that utilizes sophisticated technology to translate rhythm to canvas, on July 2. The project is a series of pieces created in collaboration with SceneFour. Hart used an assortment of drumsticks and hand motions that light up in various capacities to construct the visuals in the collection. He has also expanded SceneFour’s methods to include a number of different types of percussion, such as djembes, congas, tar, the beam (a Pythagorean mono chord he designed) and the Beast (gigantic steel drums that he used while playing in The Dead).

“Drum Ki” sounds intriguing but we’re not exactly sure what it will look like in the end. Fan can sign up to get exclusive pre-release information on Hart’s “groundbreaking collection of fine art created entirely from rhythm” at www.MickeyHartArtwork.com.
